To fix this, the <tt class="xref py py-meth docutils literal"><span class="pre">r_open()</span></tt> method would have to simplify the filename to <tt class="file docutils literal"><span class="pre">/tmp/bar</span></tt>, which would require splitting apart the filename and performing various operations on it.
